GALLERY-HOPPING IN TEHRAN

Art Gallery-hopping in Tehran has become one of the favourite activities of youth, intelectual elite and creme de la tehrani society.
The most interesting part of going to openings all across town on friday afternoons is by far the people attending these events. This seemingly non-political activity is a way for people to show how ready they are for social and political change. But even more than that, it's a major pick-up scene.

As a small child I used to have a blast wearing my grandfather's overly huge OTTOFUKKUS.
These brown slippers made out of a single piece of rubber, must be a part of every Iranian's memory bank.

Self-portrait with OTTOFUKKUS is an homage to my grandfather, to a long-lost chidhood, and to the cultural heritage I have from Iran.
